Does
your system support chain stores?
Yes. This
is called “Pooling”. Let’s say you have 2 (or 2,000)
store locations. Location A can sell a gift card to a
loyal customer. That customer travels to Location B (or
L, or Q, or XYZ) to buy from you there.
Store A
will keep the money they got when they “loaded” the
value on your customer’s card. When the card is
redeemed, USMS will transfer the money to the redeeming
location and report the transaction to you each
month.
Will
my mail order, (or Internet), business be able to use
your gift card system?
Yes,
again. Your customer will receive a gift card number,
instead of a physical card. Then, when they wish to
redeem it’s value, they simply provide their gift card
number to buy from you. (See your USMS Agent or
representative for
details.)
What
happens if the gift card is lost or
stolen?
Fear
not. We can negate the value of the lost or stolen gift
card and you’ll be able to reissue a new card to your

Check Conversation Program
WHAT IS CHECK
CONVERSION?
Check conversion is when a
retail merchant accepts a check from a customer, and
instead of having to go to the bank to deposit them, the
check is converted from a paper draft into an ACH debit.
The check is then automatically ACH’d from the
customer’s DDA account and deposited into the merchant’s
DDA account. In many cases, the merchant receives
payment faster than depositing a paper check (especially
out-of-state checks).
The check is converted by
having the merchant run the check through a check imager
(such as the VeriFone CR1000). The check is simply
handed back to the
customer.
CHECK
GUARANTEE
One of the largest drawbacks
of accepting paper checks is that the merchant
leaves themselves open to fraudulent checks and
checks that bounce. In addition to uncollected funds,
the merchant is also likely to get charged by his bank
for NSF fees.
With Check Guarantee, the
check writer is checked against a nationwide database of
bad check writers. If the check passes it is guaranteed
to be good and funds will be deposited, even if there
are non-sufficient funds in the customer’s account. The
merchant will eliminate NSF fees and the merchant will
not be charged back for any returned
checks.
VERIFICATION
Verification is when the
check writer is checked against a nationwide database of
bad check writers. The terminal could return a positive
or negative match, either way it is up to the merchant
to accept the check. It is not guaranteed. The largest
benefit is that there is not discount rate to the
merchant.
